The basics
What is a Minecraft server, exactly?
Minecraft can be played alone or together. Playing together needs a computer that runs continuously and keeps the world available for everyone. That's what you rent from us. Your child gets an address for it and shares that with their friends. Nothing more happens.
- The server runs in our data centre, not in your home.
- Nothing is installed on your devices, and we have no access to them.
- You pick the location yourself when ordering.
- Who gets to join is up to you and your child.
Costs
What will this actually cost me?
Exactly what was topped up beforehand.
There's no invoice at the end of the month, no back payment and no amount that turns up later.
You pay in advance
You can only order what your balance covers. If it isn't enough, the order simply doesn't go through.
The term ends by itself
A server is booked for 30, 90 or 360 days. After that it runs out. No cancellation, no notice period.
It renews only if you switch it on
When on, it renews from the balance or from a stored payment method. One click switches it off again.

How to set it up together
The route we recommend to parents: the account and the money stay with you, while your child still gets every freedom in the game.

You create your account
The parent account, with your email address and two-factor authentication. Orders and payments run only through it.

You top up what you allow
Via PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank account. That amount is the ceiling. Nothing beyond it.

Your child signs up too
You invite them to the server with the “Operator” role: start, stop, manage mods, but not order and not pay.
So there are two separate accounts: yours holds the balance and the orders, your child's only holds access to the server. If you would rather keep everything in one place, a single account works too.
Safety
You decide who plays
The server isn't public
It appears in no server list. Only someone who knows the address can join. With the allow list on, only players entered by name.
Your child is the administrator
They can remove players, ban them for good and stop the server at any time. Anyone who misbehaves is out in two clicks.
Mods: on the server and in the game
Add-ons go onto the rented server. Mods that also run in the game are added by your child in their own launcher.

Who is behind 20tps
20tps is a German provider of Minecraft servers. Our machines sit in high-security data centres with access control, redundant power and DDoS protection. Everything is managed through a control panel we build ourselves: that's where your child starts the server, installs mods and invites friends.
We know that in the end it's usually the parents who pay. That's why the prepaid model is no accident: nothing here renews unnoticed, nothing is charged after the fact, and there are no extras to buy on the side while playing. What you top up is the limit.

Our terms require prior consent from the legal guardians. You make the decision, not your child.
14-day right of withdrawal
You may withdraw within 14 days without giving reasons. Days already used are billed pro rata.

Every price shown is a final price including statutory VAT. Nothing is added at the checkout.
FAQ
Questions parents ask us
Can my child spend more than I allowed?
No. You can only order from money already in the account. Once it's empty, nothing can be ordered: no invoice follows, no reminder, nothing to settle later. The one exception is an automatic renewal, where a payment method was saved on purpose.
Does my child need their own credit card or prepaid card?
No. The account can be in your name and you top up the balance with the payment method you already use: PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or straight from your bank account. Your child needs no payment method of their own and never enters payment details anywhere.
Am I signing up for a subscription I have to cancel later?
No. Every server runs for the term booked and then ends automatically. It only renews if automatic renewal was switched on, and that can be switched off again at any time in the account.
Are my payment details stored?
Only if you deliberately store a payment method for automatic renewal. During the provider migration, payments are handled through Stripe Elements or Mollie; we never hold full card details.
Do I get unused balance back?
No. Topped-up balance can only be used for our services, isn't paid out in cash, and expires at the end of the third calendar year after the top-up. So top up smaller amounts rather than large ones. Your statutory right of withdrawal is unaffected by this.
What happens when the balance runs out?
The server runs until the end of the paid term and is then paused. For seven days all data is kept and the server can be restored by renewing it. After that the server and its data are deleted for good.
Who can access my child's server?
Only those who know the server address. On top of that you can switch on an allow list (whitelist) so that only players entered by name can join. You and your child control both in the server management.
What data do you store about my child?
For the account, the details from registration: username, email address and country. On top of that the payment records we're required to keep for tax purposes, and the technical data needed to run the server. The specifics are in our privacy policy.
What age rating does Minecraft have?
Minecraft is rated 6+ in Germany (USK 6) and PEGI 7 across Europe. You buy the game itself from Mojang or Microsoft. We only rent out the server your child plays on with their friends.
